Registered Nurse - Quality Coordinator- CV Surgery:
As the health care industry shifts to value-based care, quality data abstraction has become critical in identifying positive, patient outcomes.
The Quality Management Coordinator position will perform quality assurance functions under the direction of the Vice President of Accreditation, Regulatory Reporting, and Registries at Good Samaritan University Hospital.
Responsibilities:
Abstracts, collects data and works to reduce variation in care.
Organizes, compiles, and reports data for both the hospital and medical staff departments to identify trends, establish priorities, and recommend improvement activities.
Performs comprehensive, concurrent, and retrospective reviews in a timely manner, using criteria developed and approved by the registry.
Reports findings to other departments such as cardiology, performance improvement, and medical staff.
Assists departments with the coordination of audit information and recommends appropriate data-gathering mechanisms, procedures, etc.
Attends meetings and conferences.
Ensures quality submission of all data in specified registries or measure data repositories.
Prioritizes, organizes, and meets deadlines for multiple concurrent tasks and team requests; uses tact and judgment to manage expectations, flag obstacles, and propose solutions in a timely manner.
Navigates electronic medical records (EMR) and registry/case entry tools.
Contributes to team best practices, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and other business rule documents; identify variance reduction opportunities.
Keeps up to date on mandated regulatory/publicly reported data requirements as specified by federal, state, payer, and other agencies.
Any or other additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
RN with current license and Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field required.
Master's degree, CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) and experience in cardiovascular surgery preferred.
At least five years of clinical nursing experience.
Familiarity with cardiac registries preferred (CathPCI, LAAO, TAVR).
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Microsoft Excel).
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Shows high standards for accuracy and attention to detail.
Thrives working independently and takes ownership of projects/deadlines.
Strong self-organizational and time management skills to manage multiple accounts, adjusting as needed to shifting timelines and priorities.
