The individual in this role is responsible for coordinating billing activities at the practice; including but not limited to charge capture, reconciliation, and charge entry.Assists front desk staff with verification of insurance coverage, and retrieval of referrals and authorizations.This representative ensures that waivers are signed if there is no referral, or if provider is non-par; handles incoming insurance correspondence and acts as practice liaison to central business office and / or third party vendor.In addition, this individual will provide front desk support as needed which includes answering phones, scheduling appointments, check-in and check-out. This position requires the ability to function in a multi-tasking environment.
High School diploma or GED required; Certified Professional Coding Designation (CPC) issued by the American Academy of Professional Coder is required.
Medical Records Billing and / or Coding certification from an accredited program is preferred. Associates degree in Healthcare, Business Administration or completion of a related specialty program in an accredited school is preferred.
Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; Medicare reimbursement guidelines
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Knowledge of medical terminology
Excellent interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills to enhance population specific service, team collaboration and analytical problem solving
Must be flexible, able to multitask and work in a stressful environment
1 + years administrative / billing experience preferred that includes the application of general operational medical office practices, accounting / budgeting principles and coordination of billing / administrative functions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
